One of the most lauded works by Angelopoulos, the Trilogy of Silence's final chapter renders iconic the film-maker's signature trademarks, such as characters that disappear into the fog and a haunting accompanying score. Ostensibly a journey by two children to find their father, the film reaches metaphorical heights with its vision of a Greece struggling with its past, present and future. The children are deeply sympathetic since they never succumb to sentimentality.
